karen sumner

Karen Sumner RDN LDN, is a registered dietitian and licensed dietician nutritionist with almost 20 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings. Karen is licensed to provide nutrition services in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and New York. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Science from Georgia Southern University and completed her clinical internship with the Georgia Department of Public Health. Karen is also certified in adult weight management.

Karen has spent nearly two decades helping both children and adults make their best dietary choices. She has worked extensively with women and children throughout her career addressing issues such as prenatal nutrition, postpartum weight loss, newborn feeding intolerances and childhood picky eating habits. Karen is also very well-versed in food allergies and feeding problems for all ages from infants to the geriatric population.

Karen’s approach to nutrition counseling is based upon two principles. The first principle is to focus on small, attainable goals. These can eventually lead to achieving larger goals. She believes that celebrating the small accomplishments will empower and motivate her clients to continue on their health journeys. The second principle she utilizes is to set realistic expectations for her clients. Karen firmly believes that if the food does not taste good, is too expensive, or is not a preferred item of her client’s, then there will be no benefit to trying it. The Food Science concentration in her bachelor’s degree taught Karen how to choose the tastiest and healthiest alternatives for clients. She believes that looking at the taste preferences, lifestyle, and budget of each client is the best way to create a successful dietary recommendation.

In her spare time, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and two beautiful children. She also enjoys cooking, gardening, and traveling.

katlin hansbrough

I started my venture into healthcare while in high school, taking health science classes and obtaining my CNA before graduating. I have spent time as a psychiatric medical assistant, utilizing my time there to grow in my patient care skills while providing the best care possible. In addition to my healthcare experience, I have spent multiple years mastering my customer service skills. I have years of experience in scheduling, chart review, and phone/electronic communications. I have a strong work ethic and I pride myself in making sure my job is done to the best of my ability. It is important to me that I provide excellent care to all of the patients/clients that I am afforded an opportunity to work with.

In my spare time I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I love cooking, thrift shopping, crafting, and re-decorating my home. While coffee keeps me running on all cylinders, my two dogs are my children. They always keep my spirits running at an all-time high!
